Daryl Muranaka is a yondan or 4th degree black belt in Aikido and Chief Instructor of the Harvard Aikikai, the Aikido club at Harvard University. He began studying Aikido at the Fukui Aikikai in Fukui-ken, Japan before traveling back to the United States as a new shodan or 1st degree black belt in 2000. Since arriving in the Boston area, he studied primarily under the late Dick Stroud-sensei at the MIT Aikido Club and the late Sioux Hall-sensei at the Harvard Aikikai. In 2018, he succeeded Dolita Cathcart-sensei who became Chief Instructor of the Harvard Aikikai after Hall-sensei's passing.
